Narita Flight Cancellations and Delays: What to Do
If your flight at Narita is cancelled or delayed, check the airport's official flight information first, then deal with your airline — changes and refunds are handled by the airline, not the airport. Here is where to look and what to do next.
Check Narita's official flight status
Narita Airport publishes today's arrivals and departures, including delays and cancellations: flight information (departures · arrivals). The airport also answers flight-status questions by phone at +81 476-34-8000. Narita — flight FAQ →
Changes and refunds go through your airline
The airport does not rebook or refund tickets — your airline does. Narita's airline directory lists each carrier's terminal and contact details: Narita — airlines →. If you booked through a travel agency, handle changes through the seller you bought from.
For how ANA and JAL handle fee-free changes when bad weather disrupts flights, see our guide to flight delays and cancellations at Tokyo airports.
Narita's operating hours
Narita is open 24 hours a day, but under the airport's administrative regulations aircraft take off and land, in principle, only during 06:00–24:00. If your flight is running late in the evening, keep checking the official flight status and your airline's messages rather than assuming it will still operate. Stuck at Narita overnight?
If a cancellation leaves you at the airport late, some facilities in each terminal stay open through the night. Our Narita overnight guide covers which floors stay open, where to rest and the first trains; the airport's own page lists the 24-hour facilities: Narita — terminal use at night →.
Getting into Tokyo after a delay
If you land late, compare your options on our transfer pages — each shows current fares, travel times and the last departures from Narita: Shinjuku · Tokyo Station · Ueno · all routes.
